As a new milestone of the rapidly growing business of Eurocopter in Malaysia,Eurocopter is signing today in the presence of the Malaysian Minister of Transport
Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Chan Kong Choy two important contracts:
The first contract signature is with Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd (“Hornbill”). It is a Memorandum of agreement for 3 EC135. Hornbill, which is today the largest
helicopter operator in Eastern Malaysia, based in Borneo, owns today a fleet of 11 aircraft, including already 2 EC135. The new helicopters will be mainly used for
passenger/VIP transport.
The second contract signature is with Integrated Training & Services Sdn Bhd (IT&S), the leader in helicopter training programs in Malaysia and South East Asia
region, for two EC120B helicopters. The purchase of these helicopters is part of the company’s expansion plan and also to meet the demand in helicopter training
programs, since IT&S secured training contracts from the government sector namely Malaysian Army Aviation, The Royal Malaysian Navy, Royal Malaysia Police and Fire & Rescue Department. The company is also in the process of negotiating a training program for Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency which involve pilot and
crewmen rescue training. Currently, IT&S operates three EC120 helicopters for training at Integrated Aviation Academy in Ipoh, Perak.
As outlined during the ceremony by Dato’ Seri Chan Kong Choy; these two contracts are perfectly in line with the government vision to make Malaysia as a hub for aviation
services and training in the region.
On the occasion of this ceremony, Eurocopter confirmed its participation as a main exhibitor in the Lima, Langkawi Airshow, which will take place in December this year.
Incorporated in August 2002, Eurocopter Malaysia holds the largest market share in the aviation industry in Malaysia. A total of 13 types of Eurocopter helicopters are
certified in Malaysia. Eurocopter Malaysia provides a broad spectrum of services ranging from scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft modifications,
(retrofits, painting, interior refurbishment and customization) as well as logistics support (spare parts, repairs and overhaul). This includes ground handling and
hangarage. Eurocopter Malaysia is also qualified in maintenance on various fixed-wing aircraft and is the regional distributor and service center for the EADS SOCATA
range of aircraft. Eurocopter Malaysia employs a dedicated team of more than 110
personnel.
